Tiger tattoo designs look great on a upper arm or leg on their own, or incorporated in with other
tattoo designs. You can combine the tiger with any design and it will not look out of place. For example, snakes
and tigers, tribal and tigers, or dragons and tigers, love and hate tattoos. Whatever takes your fancy really
you will end up with a great tattoo design, how can you go wrong?
Tigers have been around for around 2 million years and over the years a lot of mythology has
surrounded this majestic animal. In China the tiger is the 3rd animal in the Chinese zodiac. Yin and Yan
are at times represented as a Yin tigress and a Yan dragon. A great idea for a tattoo design, I'd
say.

The
origins of the word tiger come from a number of sources. For example, the Greek word for tiger is “Tigris”
meaning arrow, a reference to the speed and accuracy of the tiger when going in for the kill. The Tigris River
has also been linked to the tiger’s name. The East Asian word for the tiger, panthera means “the yellow
animal”.
In early China history,
the tiger was associated with the highest ranking general; the tiger was seen as a symbol of life and death,
devastation and violence.
I guess we all know the
decline of the tiger numbers is due to the loss of habitat; but did you know that for many years every part of
the tiger was used in Chinese medicine (even tiger wine. Yuk!). Thankfully, the Chinese government has put a
stop to this practice, and dishes out severe penalties to poachers or anyone found selling tiger
medications.

And if you
thinking how nice it would be to see a tiger in the wild, think again, a tiger can reach up to 3.3 meters (11ft)
in length and weigh up to 300 kilograms (660 pounds). The jaw of the tiger is capable of crushing the vertebrae
of any animal on earth (yikes!).

A tiger has been
documented as killing a fully grown Rhinoceros (yes, fully grown!!), and tigers have been known to smash the
skulls of domestic cattle with a swipe of their paw. Tigers feed on various size animals like rabbits, wild
boar, pythons, young Rhino and Elephants, bears and crocodiles (that’s right,
Crocodiles!).

If you want
another good reason why the tiger will be the best tattoo design for you, then let me tell you that in Asian
culture the tiger is the king of the beasts (the markings on the forehead are similar to the Chinese symbol for
king). The tiger is also seen as a symbol of power, strength, courage and boldness (no argument
there).

Now, I want you to think about how much you will be investing and how
much it is worth to you to find the perfect tattoo that will bring you satisfaction for the rest of your life.
